The ENCISS Gender Strategy supports greater involvement of women in the planning and implementation of the PRS and local governance processes. ENCISS builds the capacity of women leaders and women’s organizations for effective implementation of the PRS and the Local Governance Act. ENCISS also works with the Ministry of Social Welfare Gender and Children’s Affairs in the development and implementation of the national gender strategy ensuring that there is a national capacity to collect, analyze and use gender sensitive statistics within government and partner organizations and establish benchmarks for measuring women’s participation in governance and use it as a basis for performance assessment and impact on interventions. Overall, the ENCISS gender strategy works to ensure greater collaboration and partnership especially between women in the rural communities and umbrella groups in cities, between the women groups and networks and the MSWGCA and between various actors working on women and governance.
